It's been more than three decades, yet we get goosebumps when we hear about the Chernobyl nuclear disaster. Feels like the chronicles behind this fallout absorb us to our very core and take us all the way to Chernobyl. The irony is, that although no one wants to be there, yet taking a guided tour to Chernobyl is a fascination for one and all.

This ghostly city situated in the northern Kyiv Oblast, Ukraine faced a catastrophic nuclear accident that occurred on 26 April 1986 at the reactor #4 in the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant. The scientists performed a test to check whether the reactor could still be cooled if the plant lost power. During the test, however, workers violated safety protocols and power surged inside the plant. Despite attempts to shut down the reactor entirely, another power surge caused a chain reaction of explosions inside. Finally, the nuclear core itself was exposed, spewing radioactive material into the atmosphere.

People were totally unaware of the fact about the shroud of grey and the silence that was going to come with the fog.

33 years later, this place yet holds the hazardous radioactive radiations making it a life exclusion zone. Here are some facts that will definitely cool your curiosity but still give you dire chills.
